Hi, Rick Baran here. I own 1985 Corvette 1G1YY0789F5107057:
As you can see the hood has been modified at some point in my cars' past, but I don't know when or by whom. I don't even know what dealership originally sold the car, so I don't know where it has lived other than here in Eastern Alabama. I'm wondering if anyone can help me identify the car, and if anyone can provide some basic history on it?

Hi Rick,
As someone who used to be a newspaperman (at a time when “news” people did more than just offer opinion), I know how difficult it is to hunt down information on anything. In the case of your 1985 Corvette, perhaps the place to start is the person or dealership you purchased the Vette from? If it was a private sale, the original owner should know something about the previous owner. If you bought it from a dealership (large or small) the salesperson there, or sales manager, should have similar information. They may even have paperwork pertaining to your Vette filed away, such as old maintenance records, which can be a valuable source of information. They may be reluctant to offer up that info, but if they know your interest is for your own benefit and not to hardball someone, they will probably be willing to help. After that, next step is to contact the previous owner, and so forth. The web can help a lot in that area. It’s time consuming, and maybe you have already tried some or all of this without success. If not, give it a shot. I have a similar situation with my 1992. I can trace the history back so far, but then I am dead-ended. But I won’t stop trying. Good luck and don’t give up! By the way: nice shade of blue on your Vette!
Did you find the build sheet from in the car and start there?
You can contact the NCM. They have a "package" with paperwork that will give you info such as the "build sheet" with options, etc., and the original ordering dealer.
