I didn't do a wrap on my '88 but used a bra instead.  It worked ok but you could see where the vibrations of the bra damaged the paint on the hood.  So, on my 2011 GS, I had a wrap installed on the front "bumper" and it works better than the bra did on my '88.  I know other folks who have had a wrap in other areas of the car and are happy with the results..
