I have been watching several videos on how to replace the front shocks which were done with car on the floor with tires on.  The part that has me nervous is that you need to compress the shock to get it off.  I went down to the garage and these shocks do not move I am an old timer but these will not move.  The reason I want to change them is when I hit a bump the shock does not absorb it like throws back and it will impact steering.  I have replaced the rack due to it was leaking. I want to live a few more years maybe I will have my mechanic do the job it should be easy for him.  Take care and thank you for your time.

If you want to DIY the shocks; take your time and jack the car up, remove tires, R/R the shocks.
Buy new shocks that are made for comfortable cruising, and less sporting and cornering if that's your preference.

Morning,

Id imagine you have replaced the shocks by now, but they can be replaced with the car on the ground.  I just replaced my bilsteins in my 88.  I undid both bottom bolts and the top nut.  Then, grab the top of the shock and push it down to compress it and pull it out.  It's pretty easy, but it does take a bit of force to compress them.  

Think of it like a good workout!
