I have always had covers...two things I learned:
1--always use a strap to hold it on at the bottom of the car.
2--I quit buying the expensive water-proof covers.
1--always use a strap to hold it on at the bottom of the car.1--A--I live in south Louisiana...we have "pop-corn showers" always, not too mention hurricanes, fall and winter storms, March winds, ect.......I hate finding the cover in the yard, wet, and holding water like a deflated kids swimming pool.
The covers have side grommets and I use them....unless the weather/winds is decent.
I have many toys so I am used to having covers strapped (its not a big deal to do).
I have a carport with two sides exposed (rear and driver), with a strap the cover may come undone, but stay on the car and not in the mud or rain.
2--I quit buying the expensive water-proof covers.2--A--I had to, ONLY reason; stray cats...I cant kill them, and I cant stop them from thinking my boat cover, car cover, and boat seats are scratching pads...think what you want; the city even sets a trap at my house and get 7 to 11 a year. Very aggravating situation, and please dont write anything about shooting or killing the cats, even if that was the case, more would come anyway.
Something to think about....after a year lf a car cover life, its time to think how to clean dadgum thing....unless the car is in a garage where wind cannot blow dust under the car, the *inner linder*
gets dirty, if you dont have it strapped and the wind blows it off; the *Inner liner* gets dirty.
If the wind blows it off during a storm and ends up in the yard, wet, dirty, or muddy:
How do you clean it, or do you just throw it away?
An example:
I had an expensive 5 layer, water proof on my C3 (all my vettes are black), I had the car covered, in a carport with one opening, this carport was orginally for a bus and had two 10x20 canvas garages with 4 walls inside the bus carport.....sounds great right?
Nope, the floor was refurbished highway cement material. The fact that there was two structures over the car and a $140. car cover on the car would make ya think all was OK...fact is; the wind could still bow debris under the cover and everytime the cover moves from the wind comes small scratches.
I am NOT anti-car cover.....no, no, no, I love taking the cover off of a car and the car is clean.
I just havent figured a way to own any cover more more than a year and it serves the purpose.
Have you ever un-covered your boat and find chicken bones, dead snakes, cat fur, and evidence of naughty cat sex in your boat?
LOL
