I want to replace my original Stafast top with an original color, dark ruby. I am having a difficult time finding the dark ruby color.
Does anyone have a source for a dark ruby color Stafast top?
You might be able to try Al Koch who has been making corvette interiors and convertible tops for as long as I can remember. They are located in Texas and ship all over the world. They also travel the corvette show circuit. This business is unique because they make the product for the customers.
Good Luck .
Jim
Thanks Jim. I have contacted Al Knock and they don't have the dark ruby Stafast top either. It seems as though the color has been discountinued. I was hoping maybe I could find a NOS top.
The stitching on my top is beginning to come out. I have thought about removing the top and having an uphostery shop re-stitch the top, then re-install. I am wondering if anyone else with a ruby convertible has had to replace their top.
Your welcome sbarbar,
I would not remove that top. I replaced
mine last year and I have to tell you the top fell apart. All the edges are glued in place and parts of it are glued behind weatherstripping as well. If your serious about changing the top some day buy the weatherstripping around the door windows and save them for when to decide to do the job. They are becoming also scarce on the market. I did my top with my brother and it took us about 8 to 12 hours. It was my second convertible top I did on two different cars. Keep looking and searching for the same color top. That top color is so nice on that car. My buddy has the same car and they are so sharp. If I find anything I will send it your way. I think when things change in the supply chain someday soon I hope , these items will become more available.
Thanks. There are some quality tops available but not in the correct color. There must not be enough of the 40th anniversary convertibles left to make it worth the manufacturer to contimue making the color.
I may just have the upholsterer to remove my top and restitch it, then re-install. Ragg Top makes a color restorer which I have used before.
I would appreciate knowing if you find an original top.
I sure will sbarber. I live in PA and I did not go to Carlisle Corvette show this year but I do go to the Hershey PA antique auto show that is the first week of October. I will keep my eyes open.
Thanks.
I’ve been to the museum there in Hersey. Maybe some day I can visit during the antique automobile show.
I think you're going to have to do some detective work. Be on the lookout for other brands of vehicles that have the same (or close enough) color top. For instance, I've seen some Mercedes with a Navy Blue top that I've never seen on US brands. Make a note of the make, model and approx year of the car you spot. Contact the convertible top manufacturers and ask them the cost to do a one-off in that color.
As a last resort, get some fabric samples from the manufacturers in light colors and experiment with dyeing them. (Don't laugh- it works!). I feel your pain, because I traded my C4 vert for a 2003 Anniversary Edition vert that has a one-year-only shale color top. When I go to replace my top, I'm going for black. Not authentic, but I like the looks.
Good luck with your project.
Rarely indicted, never convicted
I consider dying the top, but have never done that so I am not sure what is involved. But I'll do some research.

Thanks. I have researched Tops Online before. They have all the colors except the the dark ruby for 1993.
The Bordeaux isn't close enough? Request a color swatch to compare.
I did get a couple swatches; the burgundy and bordeaux. The bordeaux is more red than ruby and the burdundy is closer but not as dark as the ruby.
Good luck on your quest.
Thanks.
